Minutes of the Annual General Body Meeting of VOBA held on Saturday 19th Jan 2008 at 7 pm at The Gulati Hall, St.Vincents High School.

 

As per the agenda the Voting for electing 3 members to the VOBA committee were conducted from 6.30  to 7 pm. Mr.Somnath Hegde was the returning officer for the same.

 

The AGM  began at 7 pm with the members present constituting the quorum.

 

Fr.Andrew Fernandes  Ex Officio Member of the Executive Committee of VOBA gave his introductory address  He addressed the gathering and briefed the members about the functioning of VOBA. He also congratulated VOBA for the grand strides made over the years particularly for having hosted the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India (JAAI) West Zone Congress in Pune in October 2006 as also for active participation of  10 VOBA members at the National Jesuit Alumni meet at Trivandrum in Sep.2007. He was also appreciative of the fact that Mr.Bobby Jacob of VOBA was elected as Vice President of the National Executive Committee of JAAI.

 

After his address the agenda was then taken up for discussions by Mr.Imtiaz Lokhandwala.

 

1.To Approve and Pass the Annual Report of the Executive Committee.

 

Mr.Arthur Morris the President of VOBA read out the report of the Executive.

Thereafter the said report was approved and passed by the members.

 

2. Approve and Pass Annual Accounts for the year ended 31.03.06 and 31.03.07

 

The accounts for the two years were circulated and there being no queries on the same it was approved.

 

Mr.Lalit Nahata – Proposed the same and it was seconded by Mr. N.P.Bhog.

 

3. Approve and Pass the budget estimates for the year 2007-08

 

The budge for the  year was circulated  and there being no queries on the same it was approved.

 

Mr.Vikram Kering – Proposed the same and it was seconded by Mr. N.P.Bhog.

 

4. Elect 4 members to the Executive Committee

 

There were 8  applications for the 7 vacancies on the Executive Committee. Since 4 applications for 3 posts pertained to the same block of years the elections were held for the 3 posts. .

 

Accordingly the following 7 members were declared elected to the VOBA executive Committee

 

  1. Mr. Diego Dsouza                2.  Mr. N.P.Bhog                 3.Mr.Manoj Sanghvi
  1. Mr. Saifee Polishwalla          5.  Mr. Raymond Rebello        6. Mr.Vikram Kering

7.   Mr. Richard Fernandes

 

 

 

 

5. Appointment of Auditors

 

It was proposed to appoint the existing auditors M/s P.Khavate & CO. as auditors for the coming year 2007-08

 

Mr.N.P.Bhog   – Proposed the same and it was seconded by Mr. Raymond Rebello.

 

6. Any other business

 

Ø       Mr. Bobby Jacob updated the members present about the activities of the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India (JAAI).  He also informed members of the role played by VOBA at the National level and that VOBA hosts the JAAI website www.jaaindia.com. Further he added that VOBA is hosting the  next West Zone Governing council meet  of JAAI and the National Governing Council meet of JAII which is  to be held at  St.Vincent’s High School on 9th of Feb, 2008. 

 

As far as VOBA activities were concerned Mr.Jacob stated there is greater need to have some social activities on the agenda and that the involvement of the members in other VOBA activates is crucial.

 

Ø       Mr.Francis Dsouza and Mr.N.P.Bhgo also made similar suggestions.

 

 

There being no other points the meeting concluded and everyone was invited to join in for the dinner that had been organized for the occasion.
